Years in Photos 2011
1. This is my favourite picture because the man in the right corner's stare seems like it is penetrating my body. I feel like he is trying to tell me something through his eyes.
2. In 2011, it was the protest year where people around the world protested for their rights or liberty. This is a picture of police detaining protesters during clashes in Tbilisi, Georgia, May 26, 2011. This is significant because it portrays the protests that actively happened during 2011.
3. In this image, all the protestors are beaten up and are on the ground lying helplessly, and one police with the gun on the left top corner is standing victoriously. The lighting is coming right behind the police man, emphasizing him as the winner but the glaring eyes on the right bottom corner of protestor seems like he is not going to give up yet.
4. The subject is the protestor and it is emphasized by repetition, leading lines, and rule of thirds.
1. This is my favourite picture because it portrays the memorial of Steve Jobs who had impacted a world in a positive way to improve human's technology.
2. This is an event of a memorial of Steve Jobs through the screen of iMac which he invented. This is a significant image because he is remembered and mourned through his inventions. After he established Apple company, he had invented iPod, iPad, iPhone, iMac, and etc. to provide world with better technology.
3. In the center, there is iMac with Steven Jobs photo on it, and on the keyboard there are two red roses which are contrast to the white backgrounds and computers.
4. The subject is Steve Jobs and is well emphasized by the use of framing. Even though the roses don't emphasizes the subject, it gives a hint of colour in an overall blanc image.
1. I like how the emotions are portrayed in this photo without many objects (of course there aren't many things because they lost them through flood, but still I like how it is simple yet strong.)
2. This is a picture of a destroyed cottage by Hurricane Irene on Augs. 28 in Nags Head, N.C. This picture is important because there were floods and tsunamis that destroyed people's lives in 2011. It reveals how tough this must be for them.
3. On the right botton corner, there are two people devasted and crying on the staircase without their cottage. The water is right below their feet and all they have above water is a staircase and two posts. They are in very sharp focus where the other backgrounds are blurry.
4. The subjects are two devasted people who are crying of their loss and this is emphasized by contrast of colours and framing between the two posts. Also, the rules of thirds apply in this image.
